Welcome to my website and I hope you will purchase and enjoy one or both of the two books that Tate has published for me.
Lets Don’t Pave the Cow Paths is a collection of newsletters, many humorous; that my friends and colleagues convinced me I should weave into a book. If you have a sophisticated sense of humor (ha), I think you will enjoy it. Each short story also has some sort of leadership or management point.
I really felt called to write Enterprise Fitness. I have tried to document and explain what I think God has taught me about organizational systems over the last four decades. I wrote the book during Lent of 2008. For 40 days I wrote some each day and by the end of Lent, I was too far along on the book to stop.
Pictured with me are two of my many friends that help me write. Griffin is the little fellow I am holding and Maggie is the petite young lady. As we all know, we can learn an awful lot by being in God’s Word and observing and reflecting on what we see in his creation, which of course includes our pets.
Currently I am learning a deep lesson in “letting go of control” from Maggie. She and I do some search and rescue work, specifically finding lost pets (people are easier to find). When she is on a track I need to trust where she is taking us. Several times I was convinced she was on the wrong trail (I trusted myself versus her). Every single time I was wrong and she was right. I do not know whether I will ever learn.
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and daughter, Linda and Leigh. Linda and I met at the University of Alabama and have been married since 1972.
For over two decades I have been part of Chesapeake Consulting, www.chesapeak.com, a company I founded to help improve organizational performance.
When I am not working I enjoy being outside hiking, biking or working with my dog. I lead a Bible study group, have been on several mission trips and enjoy being around fellow Christians serving.
I serve on several volunteer boards including Bello Machre, an organization that provides loving care to those with developmental disabilities and the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama. Being an Alabama grad means I am also an avid college football fan — Roll Tide!
