Fourteen-year-old Mimi Jones does not live in a million dollar home or carry a Coach handbag. So she is more than a little frightened when she sees a story saying Congress has passed a law that children from lower-income families will be taken from their parents.But before she can gather more information, Mimi and her friend Brittney are violently snatched from Mimi’s home, bound and gagged, and taken to the middle of nowhere, where a band of teenagers and children are being held against their will. Mimi and the other captives are split into groups and forced to walk almost non-stop for thirty days.When they discover that they are to be killed because their parents make less than $50,000 a year, Mimi and her new friends must devise a plan to overtake their leaders and escape before time runs out!
